Questions about the Master / MBA
How long does a Master’s program take?
The part-time Master’s degree is usually completed after 4-5 semesters. With the English-language Master’s in Data Science & AI, you will reach your goal after just 18 months. For the MBA, it depends on the previous qualification from the first degree (180, 210 or 240 ECTS) – the standard period of study is then 2, 3 or 4 semesters accordingly.
Who is an MBA suitable for?
A Master of Business Administration (MBA) was originally developed for professionals without management experience. For example, psychologists, lawyers, doctors, engineers and computer scientists were able to build up their management know-how at Master’s level and thus improve their career opportunities or advance to a management position.
What requirements must I fulfill?
Usually you will need a Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of professional experience as a manager and a good command of English, B2 level. However, career changers with several years of practical experience are also welcome after passing an aptitude test.
What is the difference between a Master’s degree and an MBA?
The MBA is more suitable for prospective students who have not yet had any business administration experience or who have had business administration experience a long time ago. An MBA covers a broad spectrum of management and leadership topics, while specialized Master’s programs, such as business psychology or digital managementfocus on specific subject areas. For example, if you are a lawyer, engineer, computer scientist or psychologist, an MBA is the right choice for you if you want to build up management skills and improve your interpersonal skills.
What is the difference between an MBA in the Executive version and an MBA Clean?
The
MBA
in the Executive/ Fast-Track version enables you to graduate within 12 months or 18 months. With the MBA in 18 months, you can also choose specializations. Your studies will then be extended by 6 months, making a total of 24 months.
The MBA Clean lasts 24 months and does not require any specializations. If you need more flexibility and time for family and friends, this is the right MBA for you.
Is it possible to complete an MBA without a Bachelor’s degree?
It is also possible to study for a Master of Business Administration without a Bachelor’s degree. This requires at least one year of professional experience, knowledge of English and an aptitude test. Figure 1 shows the relevant components of the MBA aptitude test.
A two-hour written exam with content from the fields of mathematics, business administration and scientific work. An oral examination lasting approximately 30 minutes in the field of marketing, law or business management and a term paper followed by a 30-minute defense. You have eight weeks to write your thesis and the topic should relate to the candidate’s studies and professional orientation.

Is it possible to complete an MBA without professional experience?
Unfortunately, this is not possible as MBA programs are designed for applicants with professional experience to provide a holistic learning experience.

How complex is a Master’s in Data Science and AI? Can I manage it?
You don’t have to be Fei-Fei Li or Shafi Goldwasser to be successful in data science. Basic courses and practice-oriented introductions make it easy to get started. Imagine working on a real project in your first semester, supported by experienced lecturers who show you step by step how data models are created. And if you get stuck, there is always someone there to help you – whether online or on site.
